Put it on a table or something not on your lap damn
and buy a cooling pad they're like 20 bucks
it's worth it to not have your legs permanently damaged

No loving stuff.

This is the reason I've been really anxious to replace my laptop, especially when it gets to 140C at times.

Recent research would lead us to believe that hot things are hot and share all the risks associated with hot things

breaking news: excessive heat is bad for you

There's scorch marks on the Blu-ray drive to prove it, and I had about 150ml of parts fall out of the laptop as I was disassembling to check the damage.

Yes. Why do you think the scorch marks exist and the laptop shut down and wouldn't turn on for a couple hours?

I've only got it upto 140C once, and since then I've been careful to make sure it stays below 70C (It normally hovers at 60 which is overheating, but I can't do anything to fix that).

This laptop's cooling system has completely failed, and 10 minutes with Unreal 4 on is enough to cause a meltdown. Furthermore, the fan is completely clogged with dust and broken parts, and I've had no success trying to clean it.

I'm extremely lucky there was no permanent damage to the motherboard, CPU or GPU, but it's clear this is a laptop on death row. The laptop now takes FAR longer to start up, and has some very funny and annoying quirks now, so the heat damage has done something more than just blacken my equipment.

At the time it got to 140C, it was noticeably hotter than it had ever been before, and I double checked with SpeedFan and HWMonitor to make sure my eyes weren't deceiving me. And since the shell is metal, I had difficulty touching the laptop until it cooled down.
