I recently got a new phone with the android OS and I'm thinking of rooting it...
But is it a smart idea or is there a con wich forgets everything up?

if you don't have a specific purpose for rooting it, don't.

Generally if you have to ask this question then it probably isn't a good idea.

If you have no use for it, do it anyway. You might find a use for it in the future.

This.

I have a rooted android, & everything's still in-tact, as well as me finding apps that I use regularly that have added functionality (or really, only function) because of the fact that it's rooted. Generally as long as you do it right, you should be fine.

you can modify system files
you can edit build.prop
you can install custom system apps (and remove them (!!!))
more to come

also you can delete bloatware/unneeded system apps (be careful though) to save space

i have a super cheap phone with so little space so this really helps me if i need apps that only function in the system memory

I personally believe that older android phones that will no longer receive updates benefit most from this
However rooting voids your warranty and you may possibly brick your phone by doing this

If you have a newer device that may possibly still receive android updates, I suggest not rooting
I rooted and unlocked the boot loader on my step dad's HTC One X+ so he could remove bloatware and have a more customizable google launcher

If I had an android I'd root it.

I have root access on the rest of my things, so it would be weird if I didn't have it on my phone.

And if everything goes wrong you can just reinstall the OS.

The only thing I'd do if I rooted Android would be to remove all the crapware it comes with.

So you can delete those stuffty unnecessary apps? Ahw yiss!
But I got the phone for only 3 days and I heard it will remove the warranty. I don't have a case yet because they are expensive as forget but i'm planing on buying one of the internet.

EDIT: Can anybody find me a pre rooted jelly bean 4.3 I9195 OS?
Can't find one ;-;

wait until the warranty expires

Why is it that modifying software voids the hardware's warranty? That is complete bullstuff.

I think its actually modifying firmware which is built into hardware.

No, the root account is not part of the firmware. Every Linux/Unix OS has a root account that has access to everything on the system.
