If this is the truth, than they are pulling another Windows Vista/DirectX 10 again. That said, will it be worth it? Is this information even legit, considering it's from an AMD staff member and not an official Windows rep?

Supposedly going to be more like Mantle than DirectX in terms of pipeline and other buzzwords I don't understand. It's what Nvidia is going to be using (apparently) instead of Mantle even though Mantle is going to be available to anyone who wants to use it once it's finished

just stop using an operating system that's almost 2 versions behind and you'll be okay

there's literally no reason to not upgrade to windows 8.1 unless you're a windows ricer and quite frankly i'm not surprised directx 12 won't support 7 because the only thing 7 should be used for nowadays is school computers. there's better software

Unless you have a desktop. I honestly find Windows 8 pointles (and a pain in the ass) unless you own a device with a touch screen. I will also be using Win 7 until it ceases to exist. I still have XP on my other desktop and use it daily for emulators and browsing the web. If they are going to provide Direct X 12 for Windows 8, it should be for 7 as well. They are basically the same operating system, Windows 8 is just more "mobile" and stores applications in EEPROM memory instead of using up RAM (much like a smart phone)

lmao have you even used windows 8? i don't even use the metro menu, nor do i own a touch screen monitor.

and i have a customized start menu. it's literally windows 7 but more polished, i don't know how you can even claim it's a pain in the ass

i had it on my old desktop and my laptop as well, but then that broke and i got a new desktop. still prefer it way over windows 7

I dont want to waste a hundred or more bucks to upgrade an operating system when currently my windows 7 rig is functioning perfectly.

maybe when i get a new computer i can upgrade, but for now, upgrading to 8.1 is pointless.
