Author Topic: What CAUSES shaders not to work on supported-hardwared OS X machines(Hackintosh)  (Read 2353 times)

When I turn on shaders, I get a glitched-to-hell mess. I have:
3.4GHz quad-core i5, 8GB DDR3 RAM, Nvidia GTX 760 @ 1.2MHz w/ 8GB GDDR5 8ghz RAM.
What causes shaders not to work on mac?
I know if I ran windows right now they'd work fine. What should also be noted is that I'm not on an Apple device -- I am using non-apple hardware(computer I built) with a different boot room to load OS X.

What I've heard previously is that it's because the Mac drivers are just poorly made.

Then maybe it would work with Nvidia's alternative drivers?
Will test, I have them disabled atm

im running mac on my pc dualbooted with windows and mac
its just their graphical drivers, happens to me too.

Nvidia's alternative graphics drivers do not work either.
Anything else I can try? keep in mind I can install new drivers and that kind of stuff

i believe i heard it's due to some kind of opengl feature not available on macs for w/e reason but that's super citation-needed

Can I just update OpenGL?
I'm not using Apple hardware. (yes, Hackintosh. big mistake installing osx)
I got Blockland to working in wine, but shaders are even more glitched somehow.

The supported OpenGL version is both based on the hardware AND driver. If one does not support it, it won't work. You can't just update OpenGL independently.

As I have said, I am not using apple hardware at all. No components in my computer where ever in a mac, used in a mac, or intended for use in a mac. I am also using Nvidia's alternative graphics drivers.

What about emulating Linux, then running Blockland with Wine? Or would I need to dualboot?

I am also using Nvidia's alternative graphics drivers.
Turn those off, then try it.
Those are probably the problem.
Either that, or OS X is the problem, though I doubt it.

without them it does the same exact thing as before
they make 0 difference other than less constant freezing
How is OSX NOT the problem? Are you running shaders on OSX? The problem is certainly not my hardware.

Mac usually has an issue with Blockland shaders in a lot of ways..
