Author Topic: Why do people get so mad when someone bumps an old topic?  (Read 1143 times)

Seriously why does a line of text on your screen make you all so angry? It's ridiculous.

People like to cry and throw stuff-fits about little things, what did you expect?

because this forum is more hostile than a ape with a loving gun

I can understand if a newer revised version of the topic has been made, and people want the old one to die.

here is a perfect example one small word was mentioned and the thread was immediately derailed

example,
here,
people are throwing stuff at a new user because she doesn't know what she is doing, kind of like all of us when we were new users. either way you shouldn't throw stuff, maybe a nice; "Please don't bump this again, it's very old"?

I was referring more to drama. All the people who threw a fit at the person who bumped it should be banned along with him.

It was going to be derailed anyway, because you tried to make it out that you were some elite tech guy when you changed the topic title, and it turns out you were just bullying someone in a piss-poor manner.

Usually it's because the topic was done with, there was no discussion happening (hence it dying and sinking down the board), and then someone brings it back up, often with no additional worth to the discussion.
It's just silly that it happens, and admittedly silly when people react.

And in Drama the topic can't be locked by the OP, so the event can't be prevented. So it's kind of annoying when it does happen.

maybe they just want to fit in by being overly aggro

or they are just repeating what other people do because "its the way things are"

i really dont see why people care as much as they do because old topics will just fall back into obscurity relatively quickly as long as people dont keep posting in them

Because it wastes a slot that could be used by another, newer, hopefully more useful topic.
That, and bumps are only done to try and revitalize a topic that died.
The topic died for a reason, don't bring it back. Especially when the topic was a stufffest to begin with.

Bumps in off topic are no big deal, bumps in addons or anything worth looking at will 9 times out of 10 cause stuffstorming.

bumps in addons or anything worth looking at will 9 times out of 10 cause stuffstorming.
add-on topics should either be exempt from the age lock or have a much higher limit
as long as an add-on works, it's just as good in 2010 as it is in 2014.

they need something to police about

Holy stuff, talk about the hostility. Also, the new user was banned sooo
RIP Earthquake Nov 23-23

Whether or not I get pissy depends on the thread being worth bumping or not.
