I own a 23" flatscreen tv. It wasnt that expensive, iirc i got it at bestbuy for around $160~ ish. Today I broke it by accidently throwing a pencil-sized piece of metal.

(the white box is just the thing that says "no signal" it justs looks really bright when i took a picture of it.
The entire left half is non-fuctional.
anyhoo I'm freaking out right now and I haven't told my parents yet, and im not sure how i would go about doing it.

Just tell them about it. What else can you say?

how do you accidentally throw something at a nice tv

I was in the same boat as you.

From my experience, they took it bad at first, and you may or may not get a new TV, but seriously letting them know as soon as possible is your best option.

I'm obviously going to do this, I'd just like to do it in a way that won't make them extremely angry. My mother will understand if I apologize, but my father has a more..... aggressive personality.

turning around too fast while having sweaty palms

It doesn't really matter to me whether or not I get a new tv. I just don't want it them to think I don't take care of my things (i almost always treat my technology as if it were my children)

when you tell your parents, be sure you make a point of this

do you throw small metal things at your children!?

i punched a hole in my parents wall once because i was mad
i just pretended it never happened when they questioned me
you should tell your parents

Yeah, as long as you don't have a history of being careless around expensive stuff you should be fine. Believe it or not, your parents broke stuff too. They probably still do.

mum, dad, i broke my tv.
it happened by accident, i threw a
pencil-sized piece of metal
at it. i was casually throwing the
pencil-sized piece of metal
in the air because i was bored and it broke
the entire left half is non functional and it has a few multi colored spiders on it too. i know how hard you worked for it but i am a loving handicapped mindless idiot, who cant handle casually throwing a
pencil-sized piece of metal
in the air.
sorry, it was an accident

Respect your electronics.

calm down

Broke my TV once about 6 or 7 years ago. Was playing Rockband on drums and I handicappedly threw a drumstick at the TV. Had to pay it back (some $500/$600) but I did eventually get a new TV. :\

Just straight up tell them. No use in lying.
