I got my laptop cleaned up and ready for astro imaging and processing/editing.

I just ordered my first telescope. An Orion 8-Inch f/3.9 Newtonian Astrograph Reflector... with a Baader coma corrector. I also ordered an autoguider camera. I'll have everything I need now.

This is someone else's gear, but this is the same mount, scope, guidescope, and guide camera I will be using.

Looks pretty sick. Can't wait to see the results!

You're probably one of the only real polymaths I know.

That's the best conpliment I've gotten in a long time. Haha

Re-edit of my Orion constellation shot. Includes the Running Man Nebula, Orion Nebula, Horsehead Nebula, and Flame Nebula. D600 with 50mm 1.8G. No astrophotography equipment. 40 10 second exposures stacked. Shot through light pollution and clouds.

This was off the front page in a heartbeat

I can't believe you got all that through light pollution.
If I try to do long exposures, I just get blue skies :(

bump because this is amazingly great

hot damn this is some cool stuff. i never knew so much went into this kind of photography.

MMMMMMMMM

I want your telescope god I want to do this now
I think you might make me spend thousands of dollars on this hhngg

I got my setup put together

looks like a pain in the ass to deconstruct and move around

Aye. I'm learning to collimate (align) the mirrors right now. Has to be done every time I take it out so I may as well get good at it.
