Yeah, it's actually quite a nice pick-me-up to see that someone found something you said funny enough to record on another website.

how is this website not dead yet?

Bottington has made quite the business out of the website. Its a lower weaker form of imgur and he profits through donations and advert-ware.

Innocent enough business really. Even if some of the images and memes on there are cancer inducing.

i use emotibot a lot, just cus i can't be bothered with compiling my own reaction image folder

It seems that google has decided that our webpages "lack content", and are thus in violation of their ad serving policies.

"It is important for a site displaying AdSense to offer significant value to the user by providing unique and relevant content, and not to place ads on auto-generated pages or pages with little to no original content"

Last time I checked, google was still serving ads on sites like imgur though, so maybe I can make a case to appeal the decision.

They have suspended all advertising on lolbot, which is a huge blow to the everyboty economy since LOLs are our #1 export. At this time, it is unclear what my next move will be. I will probably try looking into other ad networks, but it will be very hard to find a suitable replacement. Suggestions are welcome.

I'm not going to give up easily, but this is a major problem. If a suitable solution can't be found, it may spell the end of everyboty.

thats just what i heard the last time i was on steam chat with him which was ages ago.

He's done reasonably well these past few years. He does rely primarily on ad revenue though.
But he also implemented several features for members whereby they can earn points through being active in the community and spend them on little things, like little bonus decorative features, and a personal e-mail address and whatnot. And if you don't wish to earn the points through achievements (which are things like uploading, sharing or tagging images on particular bots) you can purchase points too. This is also used as the unofficial donation system.

ANd he's run several competitions in the past which have given away lolbot materials, like mugs and shirts. (I don't think there's a store for these however).
And he's run a fairly successful Minecraft Server which I believe has had a donation system too.

As things go, while he's not raking in the money, he's certainly managed to create a lasting community and advertise himself in decent ways, albeit on a small scale.
