100x100 is about the most I would be fine with. Anything much more and it's just going to be in your face.
I like having a relatively small avatar size, since it fits in with the fairly minimal design/theme of the forums.

I like 75x75 because all the things that weren't got with the wand tool, like the annoying white outlines or the remainder of the background that wasn't got with the wand tool disappear when I resize them from large to small

idk if 100x100 would be small enough for that
