Author Topic: Retaking my driving test tomorrow, nervous as crap  (Read 1919 times)

the joys of small town life: the test is as simple as going down the road to the high school and back
The town I'm taking it in (which isn't where I live) has weird confusing roads, weird turning lanes, and like 10 mini shopping centers that all exit onto the same road

i failed my first time because i went through a yield sign.

and it wouldnt have  even mattered if that blue car wasnt coming by to yield to. a quiet ass neighborhood, and the 1 other guy had to be driving near me.

i came close to failing cause i wouldnt drive with two hands on the wheel, only one. the whole test took place in a neighborhood so i kept forgetting

Oh man I drive almost exclusively with one hand on the wheel. Actually, with highway driving, I generally drive with my right thumb on 6 o'clock with my fist resting on my right leg. Then to turn I move my thumb right or left to turn the car the opposite direction.

yeah i drive one handed all the time. ive also gotten to where i can position the wheel in such a way where i can drive down long strips of road and make turns without touching the wheel at all (extra cautiously of course, since i havent quite got it yet)

Just drive with confidence, check your blind spots. You're just proving to the person you can drive properly. If you can you'll be fine.

I never knew that poop was really nerve wreaking

do a lot of meth so you are at maximum awareness

IF you really want to pass then don't share your special interestes with the instructor :)

Also, I'm not taking this at the DMV, im taking it at the driving school where I learned, and I know for a fact that like half the teachers are grouchy old men and one is practically a drill sergeant.

Lmao I drive no-handed a lot too. I don't do it cautiously though, I'll take my hands off the wheel at 130+ and just place them on my lap. That's how I started using my thumb at the bottom to steer, so that I wouldn't have to pick 'em up to turn.

When I'm driving around practicing I often end up going one handed unless I'm making a hairpin turn, I don't really drive around much however so I don't know how well I can still do that. Doubt its any different now however.

when i took my driving test the forgetin thing was on a touch screen thing and i was so nervous my shaky michaeljfox hands put the wrong answer in like 3 times and i almost couldnt stand up

anyway youll do foine probly if its not your first time anymor

It's a driving test. It's not a college exam. You fail, you re-take it. There's no need to romanticize it. Try not to get turned on by road kill or something and crash the car.
