Wait, then why are all my songs still working?

Because OP is a friend and is pulling choice words from the article. This whole mishap occurred with iPods in 2006-2007. Literally totally fine for the past 7 years. Only reason this is coming up now is because

It's being brought up again because the case is finally moving forward, as it appeared to have been delayed for a number of years.

Lol calm down dude, I misread the article, no need to call names.

call me insane but I think its definitely possible to pull some next level stuff to execute malicious attacks with audio files. whether its well known or not, its out there in some form

itunes did this "sync" bullstuff that forced me to get rid of all my songs.
i had to reinstall them. honestly, i am not surprised this happened.

My solution: just use an old stuffty phone for all your calling and texting and things.

If you want something that can act as a computer while it is small enough to hold, get a Windows or Android tablet.

...or just a non iPhone?

yeah of course.

it's also possible to do that with pretty much any kind of file you can imagine; this was just an anti-consumer stunt they pulled and tried to claim the hero role for doing. even if you're going to do this kind of thing you can at least have the decency to tell your users about it jesus christ. that being said, it was a long time ago and they obviously don't do similar things today right wait why can't i get the music off my ipod
