Ok I've lived in Texas for about 19 years, so here's my summary:


• The population is too diverse to draw a conclusion about a majority of the people, but there's some things that are more prevalent in Texas than other states.


• More trucks, hunters (people that like to own guns), cowboy boots, texan accents, and outdoors-men than other states (I don't think I fit into any of these though - I try not to have a texan accent actually. nonetheless, I've probably developed it slightly subconsciously even though I can't tell)


• Large Mexican population - their occupations often include mowing lawns, cleaning homes, construction-working, and A/C installaton/service (I've worked with a Mexican and short Guatemalan man doing this for the past 5 months before I leave go to college - they were outstanding people even though I couldn't understand the Guatemalan man, who, for a few years lived in a chicken coop and currently has 9 wives - the last day I saw him, he pulled out a really thick stack of 100 dollar bills to show me, and idk why haha)


• The first ebola patient coming to Dallas scared a lot of people in the area, as you would expect with every news station exaggerating it to the max - I kept hearing this idiotic phrase on the news called "the point of no return," which means a point when there are so many people with ebola that the world's population is basically screwed


• I was at the same airport the day the ebola patient flew in, and didn't hear about it until a few days later after he was actually diagnosed with it. I have to admit though, it caused a panic I haven't felt before, to the degree that you can't sleep and you're a little shaky


• Lastly I have to point out that Texas is a great place to go into the oil industry. I'm even considering this myself, maybe majoring in petroleum engineering because they apparently have some of the highest ranking incomes and get to travel around the world
