Server ownership transfer

Before reading anything below: As of December 17th, 2014, I am formally transferring full ownership of this CityRPG to Sentry. He will host the exact same gamemode that is run on the server. He has a faster Internet speed, more time to fix obvious bugs in the gamemode, and more time to spend administrating than I do.

While I will still technically be considered a co-host and Super Admin, I am no longer involving myself in the progress of this gamemode/server. It's been a fun ride, but Sentry will do a much better job than I ever have. Goodluck to all, and god speed!

Information

Regarding 'Beta' state: After a few days of coding, hosting, and getting to know a lot of new players, the server is being hosted consistently! It is currently in BETA: How to interpret this statement is up to you, but here's how I see it:

The gamemode/map is experimental. After every restart, the gamemode is being slightly edited. Things WILL break, people might lose things (hopefully not), and many people will have totally different opinions on new changes. This is to be expected. Changes will be listed below.

Things are not in a 'final state'. You don't like something? Chances are, it will be removed/edited. You really like something? It's always possible that it will be removed/changed.

Administration

Gunner
Paradigm
Sentry
The Brighter Dark
JShotgun
Rainbow

Ban appeals

Do you feel like you've been unfairly banned/disciplined? Just PM me (with evidence) as to why you shouldn't be banned/disciplined. Have all names of admins/players in question.

Wrapping up

I would really like to see your input! I value the opinion of players, and I hope that people will be able to engage me in the comments about what I've said, as well as adding more ideas to the list. If you think something would be a fun addition to the gamemode/map (and others agree), post it.

You are competing with the server of the maker of the CRPG mod you are using.
Takes courage, I'll give you that.
But you will receive praise nevertheless because Qi is a thing that people like to hate on.

Seems like you're right; my goal isn't to re-invent the wheel, I just want to improve it - I don't wish to compete with Aoki2 or Qi, just open a server with a different aim.

competing qi is really easy lol, it won't even take much time to make a better server, even if you use the same mod.

again not really my goal, but i guess that's always uplifting

Your name fits well with 80% of the Blockland CityRPG community.

On a serious note, I'm really glad there'll be a second one, so If I'm banned from Aoki's or something else, I can come to this server!

i tend to avoid city rpgs because they are just cops vs criminals DM (and the criminals always win)

what i suggest is this:

1. let police spawn with a gun. if you feel this is too much, make a better police job (idk, police captain?) and have THAT spawn with a gun.
2. make guns hella expensive. they are in real life, why not in city rpg? what I did when i was experimenting with the gamemode was that i was doubling or even tripling the original price that was written in the prefs.
3. DO NOT MAKE CRIMINAL JOBS THAT SPAWN WITH GIANT ASS GUNS. i cannot emphasize this enough. this is because it makes no sense and makes it impossible for police to do their job
4. think about the criminal job a bit. are you gonna get 'emplyed' to be some mobster? obviously you're gonna try to hide that fact with some cover job. how about this, you make no criminal jobs at all. if people want to be a criminal, they are going to have to do criminal things. there's already a demerit system. that way you could have some shop keeper selling some food peacefully while when nobody is looking he's growing some jobs and working with some gang to keep people quiet about it. and let's not forget the peaceful and happy looking cop who secretly has a lot of dirt on his hands.
5. make demerits crazy high. make it easy for a criminal to reach 6 stars. the aim is to make being a criminal bad but highly rewarding if you do it right. right now atms are just free money lol.
6. make paying off demerits hella more expensive, and call it bribing, because that's what it is, lol.
7. make demerits go away faster, like 5 demerits are magically removed every second. this, combined with the above, should add a sort of gta-like "oh i gotta hide from the cops" effect, instead of running to the police station (lol) and playing a tiny bit of money

also what if you made tasers auto-jail wanted people, and make tasers not work for non-police?

not sure if being sarcastic

Police spawning with guns could be a possibility. As for removing the criminal profession, it's an interesting proposal. The current rate at which demerits fade from a player seems realistic enough, I might just add other ways to remove demerits: Not necessarily just paying for them at the PD because, as you said yourself, it usually leads to an arrest

it could spawn a bot (aka some low-level chump in the gang) that wanders around and can take the jailing for them, but the person would have to get different clothes / be under a diff name for that time, like it takes a player that is in the server's name and clothes

so if the police find the phony they can still jail him

I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but I'd rather disable bots all together.
Apparently players have been smart enough to use botdropItem events to get free weapons

oh, ok.

what i ment was you could pay some underground society to have a bot get jailed (it would have the "x has been jailed by y" thing, etc) and you would have someone else's name name hovering above you and you'd be wearing what they're wearing

player disguises?

Or, the op can become even smarter and learn some Torquescript to prevent that event from even working.
