Author Topic: Homemade shell topping for icecream  (Read 1328 times)

Hi there, here again to tell you all once again about something else amazing you can do with coconut oil!

So I was like I want icecream with chocolate topping but didn't really want to look up a recipe so i just went for it and heated up about two table spoons of coconut oil. After it melted and was warmed sufficiently, remove from heat and stir in approx 1.5 tbsp chocolate powder and 3tbsp.
From there you'd need some sort of additional thickener, I was looking for some marshmallow but couldnt find it so if someone tries that let me know how it turns out, I just was like screw it and used some of the icecream i was serving it with, like 1tbsp, and a bit of banana.

Once applied to the icecream the coconut oil hardens into a shell topping. For better results I think you could use powdered sugar but I didn't have any on hand to try it with.

Top with pecan meal and bananas as well and maybe a cherry i dunno.

I can't have milk products or anything like that but it doesn't stop me. Its worth the pain man, its worth it.

Well ok substitute icecream for lactose free iced treat, the advantage is the sauce doesn't require milk or butter unlike traditional chocolate sauces.

Beyers has good lactose free ice cream.

You can also buy Ice Cream made from rice, which is surprisingly good. There's also Soy alternatives as well.

Thats what happens when you max your cooking skill level for the ingrediants you have, I am still too timid to try cooking without recipes most of the time. My dad any my brother can outcook me any day though so relative to my family I am actually mediocre. My bro even got thing in culinary arts and whatnot, so he can like make most fancy recipes from memory.
Mind you if someone gave me a whole duck I wouldn't know where to begin... actually no that's a lie... uhm... a souffle, I have no clue how to make souffles.
