I intend on creating a homemade historical weapon as practice to make better ones. I'm asking what harm would a blunted aluminum sword do to skin because I think that I could use the ones that I do make as practice weapons to have fun with until they break, so that I can melt them down again to re-forge them.

hey don't mess with lead ok just to be safe

surprised nobody mentioned lead bullets.

bullets have lead on the inside, usually it's not exposed so people can get poisoned.

Do it the Terry Pratchett way
Dig up iron and forge it with meteorites and then make a hella rad sword

make aluminium replaceable arrowheads and spear tips

Bows for bitches.

Spear tips sound like fun, though. I think someone in the thread said something about an aluminum spear rod, so I could probably just cast two detachable parts.

Anyone have any suggestions as to where I could find any pre-made molds? I do not have an anvil or a hammer suitable for bashing the metal into place.

Learning to make molds seems like a decent skill to. It's just ceramics.
Then you can make all sorts of nifty things

Hey guys, why don't you deposit some blade/axe/spear head designs for me so I can pick some out when I actually do have the materials to make a mold?

I make my own die cast and punch stuff. Mostly coins.
My friend charges me 100 bucks for a die if its small like that. I need one like monthly.

Solid 1lb balls of aluminum and have a chain welded on, instant flail

What if you made a hollow hard steel hammer head and just loving filled it with lead
Bang crash crush smash

Well then, NOW we're thinking like a smithy! Will try to do when I become more experienced.

if he wanted to have a melee weapon to kill someone with im pretty sure he'd get some of those 10 dollar ebay machetes other than forging his own aluminium one in his backyard

like

how would he get away with that anyway? wouldnt he just use a kitchen knafe?
