Author Topic: Anyone see the latest Hobbit movie? (possible spoilers, be wary)  (Read 1264 times)

Did anyone else see Battle of the Five Armies today or do you plan to?

also thank Georges for indirectly reminding me of this

At first I thought it was gonna be one of the worst movies of the trilogy since the exposition seemed weak (understandably so since it's the last movie). But once the battles picked up some, it was a really fun ride.

Also, it was neat picking up on all the references to the original LOTR movie.

I saw it the day it came out! I liked it a lot.

it was pretty good. i really enjoyed it.

at first i was very happy they jumped RIGHT back into the story, assuming we all saw the other movies and they dont need to waste any time.

then they still give us about an hour of flash backs to the other 2 anyways -.-

it. was. awesome.

I'm hoping I can convince my mom to let my do a 3 day run of the LOTR movies between tomorrow and Christmas.

ANYWAY. FOR THE MOVIE.

You should have seen my freaking smile when the Dwarves/Elves clashed with the orcs. IT WAS AWESOME.

I still think the whole love triangle was stupid. I am, however, glad that they put in the whole part about Gandalf and the fortress of Dol-Gulder in. Can I just say that seeing Saruman and Elrond fighting the Nazgul was just flat out awesome?

I knew Thorin was going to die. I'm glad that he got to kill Azog first though. I would have been very upset if Azog hadn't been killed by Thorin.

Movie was pretty nice, except where I went to with family to see it wasn't all the pleasant. I could rant about it but I doubt anyone would want to hear that. :P

I already knew ahead of time how most of it was going to play out since the book was read to me/I read it maybe a year ago. Anyone have the book too?

We have two copies of the book. I've read it 4-5 times.

Edit: We also had literally the best seats in the theater, cause we got their really early.

Like, the ones right behind the middle walkway in direct center.

I also had both of my versions of the One Ring with me. :P

the one thing I was confused about was why it's called 'Battle of the Five Armies'.

I only counted 3, the elves, the dwarves, and the orcs.

maybe 4 if you count when gandalf's eagles show up.

so where's the fifth army?

does the towns people count? they were kinda with the elves though lol

there were a lot of cliche moments i found, but overall i liked it.

If we're gonna count them then I'm retracting the eagles since they weren't even an army so to speak.

Does anyone else think the eagles should have saved thorin? I mean they could've swiped him off the cliff and taken him to Gandalf or killed the Orc

no because he died in the book

in book he actually died within others company, iirc.

Also, the five armies were in the movie; the men of Laketown, the dwarves, the elves, the eagles (yes they count as an army), and the orcs/wargs. Actually, I don't remember seeing very many wargs in the battle which surprises me.

dwarfs, elves, towns people and the orcs are actually two different armies
