Author Topic: Game will not authenticate; stuck on "Authentication, Validating Key..."  (Read 4516 times)

I haven't been on Blockland in a while, but when I hooked it up recently, it didnt log me into my ID, nor did it ask me for a new key; it is simply stuck on "Authentication, Validating Key..."
The console says "Error <TCPCClient>: error 4" as the only thing that stands out, but i have attached the full console.log

What kind of internet do you have?
Satellite or Tethering internet doesn't seem to work with authentication.
If you can remember your Key, try removing the Key.dat in your Blockland installation, and re-entering it.
You can either move Key.dat somewhere else or delete it, just don't keep it in the Blockland folder.

Also I noticed you have an add-on with an invalid name; Client_BrickDatabase (1), you must've downloaded it and already had a Client_BrickDatabase and it added the (1) to it.

-snip-
Ive got standard home wireless internet, I'll try messing with the key.dat.

After re-installing the game, the problem still persists, so i think it's a problem with my internet, i'll screw around with it.

The problem is still not fixed, I've tried the steam version and the non-steam version. Each time I start the game, the only thing in the console that changes in the line where it says "UDP initialized on port xxxxxxx" which changes each time. It then glues to "Authentication, Validating Key..." and doesn't do anything else. I cannot join or host any servers.

Does http://auth.blockland.us/ load for you?
it brings me to a blank website with "auth.blockland.us" in the corner, is that supposed to happen?

yes

yes
what could the problem be?

I've tried without any mods, steam, standard launcher. It's probably an issue with my internet, but I don't know what to change to try to fix it.

Honestly I don't know what to expect from the results of one of these, but try this out quickly.

Open a cmd or powershell and run the tracert auth.blockland.us command.
If you use powershell you can just copypaste the result, otherwise post a screenshot of the cmd. This program shows the 'jumps' you take while getting to that address. It may reveal if a VPN or something is obscuring the authentication process.

I'm assuming this is how you do it.

Use this proxy test, tell us the results:

"Proxy Test
This request appears NOT to have come via a proxy.

The request appears to have originated from host pool-###-##-###-##.bltmmd.fios.verizon.net which has ip address ###.##.###.##"

the pound symbols are my actual IP. Do you need the information under "Raw Details" section?

Nope, it was only to see if you're behind a proxy.
