Stock of your inventory. An ancient electronic device (a heirloom from your father. It's charged to 57%).
A .357 caliber revolver.
2 .38 Spc blanks, and 1 .357 blank.
A candy bar.
A matchbook with 4 matches.
A working watch.

You crack open the door (thank god it wasn't locked) and peer into the building.

The rats in the city are massive buggers. They aren't truly rats- Doctor Mildred says that around 100 years ago the original rats mutated into something much more hostile to people. You really, really want to avoid them.

Case in point. Big teeth, claws, and a stinger that delivers a venom that paralyses you. Seems you've caught him in the middle of his meal.

Well stuff. You've hit a bit of a roadblock.

Use the candy bar as a distraction, then when the giant rat is distracted shoot him in the eyes with the blanks(blank rounds can still kill). If that fails, try to scare him with the matches.

light a match and throw it at it

Alright, you're going to want to lure it in. Avoid it and wait for it to try and strike with its stinger, when it does, lurch to the side that has the easiest escape point, grab the loving tail and swing it up and down back onto the ground. Odds are the force would've broken a few things, so immediately bash its loving head in with your boot.

Start meowing while fighting to attract any cats that might want to kill the rat

Question:  Are they known to travel, hunt or live in groups?
