wat is time? lets discuss time and other timey things in a very timely manner

if a year is the earth fully orbiting the sun, how come it doesnt just become a new year as soon as the earth completes its orbit?

(hypothetically) if the earth was about to fall (down) in a giant pool of lava at the same rate of the day/night cycle (or at any rate)

the people at the bottom of the earth would die first because they get submerged first than the people at the top of the earth would

you wouldn't say they all died exactly at the same time, because they didnt

yeah i get that but then how come it isnt newyears for people at the point that passes the previously passed point first?

because its the next day for them

remember there is a huge gap between north america and japan allowing a huge gap in time

well heck if we know when new years is since we havent been around since the earth started existing

i mean our year isnt even exact its why we have leap years and all these other arbitrary rules about them

it's because of timezones. like, it's 6:14 PM right here in new york, but it's 5:14 PM for someone in let's say nebraska. it's considered the new year when it passes midnight, so when it's 12:00 in new york it's 11:00 in nebraska

but wait a minute, i just realized... what is time

like
is it a manmade concept
what are we going by? i mean a year is the earth fully orbiting the sun which is true but is the concept of BCE and AD a true thing? is the way we measure time such as those because of christianity
when did time start
wat

how can new years be real when time isnt real?

2008 until 2010 = 2 years
2010 until 2014 = 4 years
I wasn't even on club penguin in 2008 and I was still pretty stupid, then I got blockland in 2010
time FLIES

Because we measure a year to be 365 days, rather than being exactly when we reach the same point in our orbit of the sun.

So, different timezones have yet to experience a whole 365 days yet, whereas other timezones have.

As far as our position in space relevant to the sun is, the new year starts at the same time for everyone on Earth. But we just don't consider that moment to be the official moment of a new year.

time FLIES
Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana.

There's the perception of time, and then there's physical time itself.

Physical Time is another axis/dimension, similar to width, length, depth or 1D, 2D, 3D etc. It defines the state of an object at a specific point in its lifespan.

We perceive time to be linear, but how can we really know? Some people experience time slowing down, which indicates that we can alter our perception of time, but not necessarily the flow of time itself. Maybe one day, but at this point Physical Time is out of our control.

fruit flies prefer any fruit really, otherwise they'd just be called banana flies!!!!!!!!!!
