Author Topic: So I'm having trouble with my graphics card  (Read 1021 times)

For the past few days, whenever I open a game I get at least 5 FPS. I was running a hard overclock and it almost fried my graphics card, so I uninstalled the software (it was MSI Afterburner). And now, I get extreme performance issues.

Is my graphics card fried or what?

Oops, forgot to mention I have an AMD Radeon 7470.

the card is stuff anyway so id expect 5 fps from a failed overclock

What temps did your graphics card reach when you over clocked?

The max I've seen was 178 F*
Usually it'd be around 130 - 160 degrees. Very hot if you ask me.

jeez you could fry an egg

Yep.

I run all my games on low, I'm not a person who gives a forget about the detail of the games I play anyway.

why the hell would you let it get that high?

i used to overclock my card and run it up to about 175, no harm done

im not use to seeing fahrenheit used when talking about computer hardware... its just odd.

all of you claiming a bad overclock is the issue dont know what your talking about. there is no such thing as a bad overclock. an OC just works, or it dosnt and you use the part stock. thats it.
failing OC settings over and over in that trial and error shouldnt do any damage either. its not 1999 anymore, parts dont allow themselves to damage so easily like that. crashing dosnt cause damage.

just because the video card's gpu is at a reasonable temp, dosnt mean it's vrm isnt overheating. are the fan speeds going slower? they can very easily be damaged from use.
