Author Topic: For $1200, you can have a Sony Walkman  (Read 1809 times)

For the low, low price of ONE THOUSAND, TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($1200), you can purchase Sony's brand new rendition of the classic media player, this time lacking the CD player.

Apparently includes "High Resolution Audio" and Google Cast connectivity.

(Note, the $1200 is for the newer ZX2 model; the other reboot, the A71 is only $300)

Their phones and consoles are actually pretty rock solid. My Swedish friend has almost completely sold me on upgrading to a Sony smartphone once I have the cash.

why the forget is it so expensive, are they just being greedy bastards or what?

If it has the awkward interface of the Walkman app on Sony Xperia phones, then I wouldn't want one.

is that in usd or aud
USD.

It'll probably come down to about $1600+ if it ever hits Australia.

Fun fact; we never got the Microsoft Zune (half the reason I went to America a few years ago), and we had very limited supplies of the previous Walkman versions. Apple pretty much is taking the Australian market right up the arse.

the thing is you're not paying for the device, you're paying for the top quality and professional audio playback

But is there a market for people after such quality at such high a price?

If there is, then kudos to Sony. But I can't imagine anyone I know who would be willing to purchase it, although I may just not know the right people.

Even the audiophile/headphones subreddits are laughing at it, and they spend big on stuff like this

Doesn't even have a tape player
