I love jazz, but it's also a really broad term, and not very descriptive of a specific genre.

Ok that, is something I definitely agree with. For me, the only subgenre of jazz I absolutely cannot stand mostly would be smooth jazz, anything else I like, especially swing, funk, big band, bebop and cool jazz.
