Change Default Death Sound?

I tried simply replacing the .wav file with my own (base/data/sound/death.wav)
but that didn't work out.

needs to be add-on to my knowledge.

Sound_death or whatever.

I found an add-on while playing blockland and tried it, It seemed to change the death sound.

Since you said you replaced the death sound, did you make the new one read only?
