Author Topic: What I've learned from hosting a CityRPG for less than 24 hours.  (Read 2788 times)

1) The gamemode is so broken, script wise. I found myself constantly needing to fix/change things in the gamemode itself.

2) Too many ways to exploit/glitch things.

3) All people do is bitch when they lose their money and ask the admin to grant them some. Like no.

4) I originally intended for this server to be more build oriented, as opposed to a Cops vs. Robbers DM. This goal is completely too far fetched for this game mode.

5) You can have whatever dream team of admins you want, but people will still bitch and moan about the rules.

6) It's like a second job tending to it. It's not fun having everyone bitch to you about the broken scripts and such.

I can go on. I will never host this gamemode again. I'll stick to just playing other peoples CityRPG's. I'm going to begin development of a DM. I'd like to have a server in which I don't feel like I need to babysit.

Edit: On the good end, with BlockNet dedicated hosting, I was able to run my server with 45+ players with minimal lag.

Can you list some?

Well, for one, if your server has eval installed, you can do many things with that. But people liked to use the wand glitch in order to reach places not readily accessible.

what wand glitch

so you used your players as an experiment p much?

anyway, of course you're going to have to edit your own for it to not be buggy, the original gamemode is years old itself and needs major patching. it doesnt take a genius to easily fix at least the most noticeable bugs.

what wand glitch
if you stand on top of someone, and use the wand on them while constantly jumping, you can go up infinitely high

Nope. I had intended to host this for the remainder of the month. The gamemode has just became way too overwhelming, for the shape that it is in.

oh, i guess that is understandable.

Sinner would you be interested in creating a whole new cityrpg add-on? I never thought they were that fun until I played yours...

(Yes I do know how to code in torquescript)

Wow whoever uses this glitch is a total loser

I thought the wand couldn't push other players.

What mod were you using, OP? I'm kinda interested in hosting a city rpg myself.

I'd be interested in helping you admin it and building the map, as well as ideas. I'm a novice scripter.

An edited version of /ty's.
