Why do I run into forums specifically for girls

This might be a Dutch(?) thing, but I often run into forums that are like aimed at girls and also have that in their name.
This confuses me, like, does that mean there are boy forums out there? Is every forum that's not a girl forum, a boy forum? Why don't they just go on normal forums aimed at both genders? I have so many questions
