Author Topic: Bricked My loving Phone  (Read 3611 times)

forget technology must hate me. This is my second loving time breaking a phone

I was trying to root my LG G3, and I had to flash a stock ROM on it so I could root. After I flashed it, it became 100% unusable. It sits there on my desk looking pretty, and I cry knowing I won't use it again.

Just a few questions:
To buy a new one, will I probably pay $200, or the full price tag since I forgeted up?
Is there a chance in hell of fixing this stuff?
How handicapped am I?

I'm pretty sure somewhere in the package of the phone there should be something along the lines of "if you mod this, your warranty is not valid," you /probably/ will have to pay full price, sorry m8.

You're forgeted.

What were you even trying to achieve via root anyway?

you... bricked an LG G3?

how?

I've never broken a phone (or tablet....or computer....or etc).

I dunno man, I was trying to get the build model VS985 10b, since my current (VS98512b) was unrootable.

After I followed the instructions and flashed, it just borked.

I've dropped my phone countless times. On concrete, on tile, gym floor, everything. My phone loves me, it never cracked or broke

Did you read? He bricked, not broke the phone.

OP, you should change the title.

It's hard but possible to fix a hard-bricked android phone. I've done it once with a Galaxy S2 and once with my Google Nexus 7. Takes lots of time and lots of googling but there's a fair chance it's possible.

Done

Man, this is gonna be fun explaining this to my parents, just months after the last incident

I'm almost considering calling sick off work tomorrow just to dedicate time fixing it

1.) your warranty is forgeted, as Niff said, so probably full price.
2.) i think it's possible, actually. maybe look up something on the internet?
3.) well, at least you had reasoning for doing it...

hope OP likes flip phones
or better yet, none at all

seriously though you're doing something wrong if you've bricked two phones, you really need to know what you're actually doing before even considering rooting

My Droid Razr Maxx got stuck in a boot loop, and I tried fixing it and essentially the same thing happened, except my computer was picking up any device.

This time, it picks up a device, but rather than "LG G3" or "VS985", it's titled "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008". So pretty much all I have is a nice piece of hardware with no software or firmware on it. At all.

I've successfully rooted before, and installed custom ROMs. But ever since I tried getting a lollipop ROM on my old phone stuff just doesn't work for me.

More like I'm just an idiot, but still.

Needed materials:
Bricked Phone
Hammer
Bowl of Warm Water

Place the bricked phone on an elevated flat surface.
Take the hammer.
Hit the edge of it so it flips off the table.

Check if cannot turn on/what ever.
If so, or for extra caution, place phone in water.

Claim warranty for accidental damage.
