So my PC has an issue that can (probably) be resolved
I have a 500W PSU, but it probably only does like 350.
So I bought a PNY Geforce GTX 650 for like 120 bucks
When I plug it in correctly, my computer runs for like 5 seconds then shuts off.
When I unplug the graphics card, it runs fine.
I suspect this is a PSU issue, but can I get some confirmation on it?
Thanks

low wattage
Alright, cool.
What would the recommended wattage be?

its my guess, full specs?
maybe 600 would be good, but I think I'm wrong since the 650 seems to be low on wattage, do you currently have a gpu?

Its just the factory HP ENVY 700-027c
I'm running off integrated (Intel (R) HD Graphics)
Only thing non-factory is the cheap PSU

Yeah, it's definitely the power supply; considering your system should only need 250-300 watts at worst, it probably can't even deliver 200 clean. Here's a 350W Seasonic which should be more than enough: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-ss350etbronze
EDIT: There's also a 380W Antec for $3 more. It's probably a better choice since it has higher quality components: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/antec-power-supply-ea380dgreen

what?
that wouldn't make it shut off

If his computer draws more power than what triggers the overcurrent protection of the PSU, yes it would. Even those junk units with fake wattage labels have some kinds of safety features.
