Demo players to be allowed on servers?

I just noticed that the game contains code that could allow demo players to join certain servers. I think this would be a great idea. Has this code always been there or is it something that's being worked on right now?

However, I think it would be a good idea to allow demo players into servers if the host allows it.

More people would be drawn in because the game is much better when played online with others. They'd then buy it to unlock the remaining features.

I am just thinking. People who have not bought the game already have so many features. If that was true almost every server would allow demo users to join and that would mean less sales and less players and less add-ons. Sounds too generous.

just allow them on the server all the time

There's actually a preference called $Pref::Server::AllowDemoPlayers, so you could block them from your server if you didn't want them.

I'm not sure if more players for less money would work, There'd then have to be more benefits for lifetime-membership.

Perhaps membership players can get extra hats/faces while demo (f2p) players can't?

I think players should be allowed to join any default Gamemode-hosting server (the system would check if the Gamemode is pure first, however). Except Custom of course.

Demo players only get the default blockhead and cannot customize their character. They are also stuck with their Blockhead name.

Problem solved.

And maybe there can be guest ID's that start with a "G".
