Author Topic: windows 8.1: "Could not activate windows right now."  (Read 1061 times)

So my "new" laptop I almost have for a month now was working fine untill a week ago an annoying message pops up with "activate windwos" and a button "Ativate windows now". I clicked to button and got brought to another screen. You had 2 options there; "Activate windows online" with the key that came with my pc or "activate another key". So I clicked activate windows online and got an error "Could not activate windows right now, try again later". I have been trying for a motherloving week jezus christ. So I downloaded a 3rd party tool where you can see your windows key and tried "Activate another key", pasted my key in there and got another error "This code does not work, check the code and try again or try another code"
Wtf windows?
I tried googling it but nothing so far worked

"new"

What do you mean by this?  Also, is it giving you an error code? it should say it when it denies you activation, something like "error: 0x12345678"

I have the pc for a month so its not really new anymore.

errorcode: 0x8007251D
I tried doing something with cmd where you have to enter product code thing (I don't really remember) but I'l see if it works, probably not because it gave me some stuffty error again but I can't remember what.

Control Panel\System and Security\System

Screenshot that window.

Try pressing the windows key + r and then type: slui.exe 3. Hit enter and enter the product key.

Also you said you already tried the cmd way, was it this?:

Type the command slmgr.vbs -ipk < product key> into that window and press the ‘Enter’ key. Do not forget to replace the < product key> tag with your product key. Finally, type slmgr.vbs –ato into black window and hit the ‘Enter’ key.

At this point I'd ask if you're trying the right code.
