Author Topic: has your dog ever experienced this before?  (Read 1218 times)

i would visit the vet, but we are short on money for a while, and it's too costly for just an brown townysis atm.

my dog has these black, flea-like things on him. i would just say they're fleas, but they do not jump, and frontline or anything we have used doesn't kill them. we bathe him once a week because his skin will dry out of we do it more frequently. they don't bite humans, and i don't think i've seen them on my cats. you can see pink on his tail because he bites it and stuff, so we put one of those cones on him for the time being. i've seen them near his genital area, and the tail, and where the tail connects to the body. i only post this in desperation because i don't have many options right now.

If they're living creatures and are biting your dog, they are likely fleas or ticks. Idk what lice look like but kid consider that too. You should post pictures.

there is no way for me ever to get a good picture, all of the cameras i own capture photos at a garbage resolution.

You shouldn't worry about money when it comes to taking care of your animals. Take him to the vet.

rent money needs to be paid

also the vet charges like 60 bucks just to use their eyes, and 50 bucks to give us frontline that will not work.

That's not even a lot when it comes to getting proper care for your animal. My parents had to pay $7000 to get my cat's leg reconstructed and they did because they cared for the cat like family.

If you're in such a terrible financial situation that you can't afford an appointment for your dog then you probably shouldn't have pets.

One of many reasons why I probably won't get animals when I move out. Maybe a single cat at most.

my grandma tells me some temporary remedies. i've noticed spraying the area with apple vinegar cider stops the itching for a while.

thanks capitalism.

they sound like ticks. get some tweezers and try to pull them all off. just keep feeling around his fur for lumps to figure out where they are.

Then don't have pets. I hate when I see people who can't afford stuff for themselves and then bring animals into it, i'm not trying to be an starfish but seriously.

If you do that, the head will still be in the skin and the tick will re-grow. You actually have to burn them off. My dog used to get ticks in his ears when I took him hunting in the woods, and my dad showed me how to burn them off. Shampoos did not work. Be careful not to burn your dog!! Singeing a little fur is normal, it will grow back; but be careful of the skin. Once the tick feels the fire it will loosen it's bite and you can pull it off, it might even pull its head out of the skin on it's own

What if they've had the animals before running into serious financial problems? It's not like they'll just give away a family member.
