Author Topic: Laptop died.  (Read 1566 times)

Ight so heres the story,
I got a WINDOWS 8 last year and it always confused me
SOMEONE made an account on my lappy, but I didnt know how to change it and the password
failed to work when I entered it.
Skippin 3 hours, and oh no each time I start up it crashes.
LATER, I check the harddrive... It's in good shape so at this point i was confused.
I keep the harddrive open, A new error message appears   'checking for media , failed'
The harddrive now only makes constant ticking or clicking noises.
Im already sending it back, gonna get a gaming desktop, but does anyone know what the forget that might have been and how i can avoid it?

Windows 8 doesn't cause hard drive failures.

I've had a Windows 8 laptop for probably two years now and it still works perfectly fine.  Probably because I take care of mine and don't let idiots who shouldn't have access to it change usernames and passwords.

forget off

I'd recommend a custom desktop over a prebuilt one, but if you're going with prebuilt I'd recommend ibuypower or cyberpowerpc. They're overpriced for their specs, but they work better than brands like alienware.

I check the harddrive...
I keep the harddrive open
Explain to us exactly what you mean by "harddrive" and "open," please.

Imagine a laptop dropping from a desk

Pretty much the only real problems I've gotten with it are:
-few tiny pieces of the case chipped off
-Internet connection on it likes to break sometimes
-Screen sometimes freezes when it goes to sleep mode

other than those issues it still runs fine.

laptops are handy for people who use computers for things besides games

oh yeah, and the only bad thing about windows 8 is the anti-windows 8 circlejerk :^)

Windows 8 was made for laptops.

I don't get why people even have problems with windows 8 and/or laptops, I've had both since the beginning of my online school year and it works really well.
