Author Topic: Laptop died.  (Read 1584 times)

Windows 8 was made for laptops.
especially touchscreen laptops

Both laptops I have suck. There is a Windows 7 HP laptop with tons of issues (sound is broken and completely unusable, blue screens on boot, and USB mouse rejection) but it is overall the best computer I can use for gaming, so that's where I keep Blockland, Steam, etc.

I also have a Windows 8 ASUS laptop, but it runs like a potato, freezes the browsers constantly, and games run on a slightly lower fps. Overall though, no parts are screwed up afaik

Why are people identifying their operating systems with their laptops, as if that mattered in any way to their slowness or brokenness?

Windows 8 UI is pretty lame and the mixed up settings are a pain but the underlying functionality is borderline wonderful.

And anyone who says laptops can't game must have been exposed to stuff tier laptops exclusively. My Asus has never disappointed me in that regard.

Sorry about your HDD. There are only two kinds of HDDs. Those that have failed, and those that will.

One of my friends uses a laptop as his main computer for gaming
he's able to play stuff like Skyrim with it at max settings I think

i used to know someone that had a casual laptop that could run Borderlands tPS no problem

jesus dude
how hard were the drops

also op that someone forgeted up your laptop - or you did something to it
It asked for an update, I accepted, and it failed to turn back on due to crashing.
Also, I have windows 8.1, which has horrible ratings now.
And guy from earlier, I meant to say I kept the harddrive's 'chamber' open.

Are you saying you opened the actual hard drive?

Unless it's a Seagate IDE. Those a loving immortal. The one I'm using is from 2004, 120GBs, dropped 4 or 5 times, slow as forget but never failed.

Dont blame me, I don't know much 'bout laptops.
That's why im here in the first place

i have a 2008-or-so laptop still going strong
it was originally vista, then my dad installed 7 on it
i have had 2 hard drives fail on me so far, wonder how much longer this thing will last

I've only ever had one hard drive fail me and it was after years of use.
After that, I just stuck a flash drive in it and now that serves as its main storage device.

OP, you either got a laptop with a stuffty hard drive or you forgeted it up somehow.

have a 2003 laptop with linux and works for everything I do

(except development)
