Author Topic: Simulating a user timeout  (Read 2386 times)

Not torturing, im making a mod that kicks players without them knowing whether it was an actual kick or if the server just went down.
Until they try to reconnect and it says they're banned? What on earth are you trying to achieve by confusing people?

This is the exact opposite of productive
If a user is causing problems, and you kick them they say "Oh, I was kicked, I should stop doing that if I want to play on this server"
Doing they  just think "Oh, not again" and join back and continue doing the same thing
And if a user isn't causing problem, you shouldn't use this

Im going to use onConnectRequested or Accepted to disconnect with the case of connection timed out

I'm more of just making this for personal use, if you ever have a server. you kick a person they continually reconnect, or they just stop. you could just ban them but why ban them if they would just stop connecting because they think that the server went down.

The purpose of banning is to teach a lesson and get rid of them. Don't be so afraid of confrontation.

Because doing this is more convoluted and has the exact same effect? Or do you need them to stop coming back without offending them? Be honest: is your mom playing Blockland?

No, my mother has never played blockland and that was a completely irrelevant question. Yes the goal is to stop them from coming back without getting on their bad side (if you aren't already).

Who cares if they don't like you? If they break the rules then they should be banned. They'll figure out that the server didn't shut down once they look at the server list anyways.
