Author Topic: Windows 8 worth it? How to redeem iso file?  (Read 2883 times)

wat.

I thought it was clunky and pretty damn difficult to really go through programs with the new start menu.

and if you can get a extra few bucks, there's adapters for laptop hard drives to connect to a desktop.

Can Linux run Blockland?

Don't listen to Na Pulse, he doesn't know what he's talking about. Windows 8 is a fine OS and if you can't get used to the new start menu then there are modifications you can get which bring back the old start menu.

Can Linux run Blockland?
Kind of. You can use the Windows Compatibility Layer (WINE) to run Blockland, but it's probably not going to run as well unless you are able to go through the absurd process of installing non-standard graphics drivers that work with your GPU. (This is just assuming you use a graphics card and don't just use an APU or something)

My experiences with that operating system limits from the original beta testing, i' apologize for any outdated opinions on the operating system.

Can Linux run Blockland?
I think so, with WINE

That makes it better to just get windows 7 and wait for 10...
Which is fine unless you can find 8 for cheap enough on Pecon's link

Every time I've uan Blockland through WINE it ran a lot better than it did on Windows with the same hardware -- granted that it was always with non-standard drivers (though that's not an excuse for Windows, since you generally always use them on Windows).

If you're making a gaming pc, avoid linux

Windows 8.1 works great. The UI is identical to 7 with the addition of the start screen, which nobody really uses anyway. Just replace it with start8 or classicshell to get the classic start menu back

Don't get Windows 8. All Windows 7 and 8 users get a free upgrade to Windows 10. If you have Windows 7, don't bother.

get windows 8.1, and if you are used to old start button use start8

Can Linux run Blockland?
Yes, it can run most Windows games. It just can't do it particularly well.

You will be better off playing Windows games on Windows.

I bought a windows 8.1 pro key...

I may have made a mistake by not knowing how/where to redeem it...

I just want to download an iso to a flashdrive.

You input the key when you boot from the installation media IIRC.
