Author Topic: Tezuni - Removing Credit from RL / Glorified Paywall  (Read 41016 times)

Stop with the legal arguments, this is the court of public opinion.

If you take someone else's creative work and remove their name from it, you're a douche bag.

The coins I can understand, but the help command?  You're a douche bag.

loving finally, no one believes me when I loving say that it's stuffty for him not to give credit, but this you guys will believe.

the donation system is basically a thing which has been going on in many other online games which allow third party servers, this isn't a new thing, and we can't expect it to not leak into blockland.
fyi I don't have a single problem with donations, I only have a problem when they do stuff like I included in the OP, if you need to pay for a server that's cool.

People don't have to change their opinion just because Badspot said it.

Zapk's name is in the readme file of that add on, it's not like Tezuni replaced Zapk's name with his. It's perfectly understandable that he removed Zapk's name from the chat message and center prints considering Zapk is a notorious person. If you think tezuni's an starfish for that then so so be it, but it's not like he's taking credit for the add-on.

so if he just changes it back to "rising lava by zapk" in the help its fine?
Flatflyer is pretty spot on here, I use the trench digging add on and it doesn't have an in-game menu saying the developer's name. Does that make me a douche for not publicly crediting his name on my server?

who the forget is going to get the readme file for it, clearly zapk wanted some credit if he put his name in it.

The whole point of having the readme file in add-ons in to list people who worked on the add-on. Anyone can get their hands on the original file and see who made it. If Tezuni released his RL edit publicly with only his name listed in the readme that would be another story.

Ravencroft, we're talking about socially acceptable internet behavior here.  I don't think you have enough experience in this area to offer valid insight.

I've never understood the reason to have trails in games anyway. They ruin any chances you have of losing a pursuer after hiding, or just hiding in general. If you pay for trails, then you must like the server and might be good at it, and trails are distracting and people usually follow them, too. So in a game like jailRP, you're almost never alone to get weapons because guards are always following trails as if they are alien entertainment devices.

I'm completely okay with everything else, I just think that trails are stupid.

tbh zapkoins are like the most ego thing ever, especially since Rising Lava can be hosted by anyone now.

I don't get why no one ever goes to Arican's. She has better maps :c

And that is why donating for them is an option.
