Apple isn't necessarily making anything physical. The company that can make the first/best car OS that can reliably self-navigate may be the the next "Apple". Apple wants to be the next "Apple".
This is good. It further increases the competition for self driving electric cars. Even if Apple doesn't ever build a car.

Edit: Removed "So" and added "Tech" from title.

Self driving cars are proof that we are headed into a WALL-E like future

they're probably working on their software, jeez

Self driving cars scare me
The people who are making them seem to be a bit... idk what to say, but it's annoying how they're putting them on highways because, these things are new and REAL PEOPLE drive on highways.

Self-driving cars don't have to be perfect. They just have to be better than humans at it.

Will it have windows?
Haha, get it? Windows
okay :(

they're probably working on their software, jeez
Good lord, iCars crashing and driving to the ocean everywhere!

I don't really trust the self driving cars. Sure, it's better than the human-driven counterpart, but, software-driven stuff just sounds a bit less safe.

for the low low price of $300,000

How? Are talking about the people being fat? Do you think driving a car is some kind of physical exercise?

How does it seem less safe than people? Do you know what people do when they drive? Texting, talking on the phone, eating, doing makeup, generally not paying attention. A computer will never do any of that.

Which is relatively easy to achieve, since people are terrible at driving. People can only look in one direction at a time, but cameras and other hardware on the car can give software information about everything surrounding it all at once. It'll know almost exactly how much room it will need to get to a complete stop, and decide whether doing that or going with another option is safer. They'll never drive over the speed limit. They'll be a lot better at parking than human beings, too.

Somewhere in the near future, some terrorist might mess with the functions of the car so that the car would drive into people and buildings. The car might also be rigged with a payload of explosives and given a set path to crash into a structure of the terrorist's choice.

How? Are talking about the people being fat? Do you think driving a car is some kind of physical exercise? No, I'm talking more about everything becoming automated and humans depending on robots for everything

How does it seem less safe than people? Imagine is someone hacked your car

Somewhere in the near future, some terrorist might steal a car and drive it into people and buildings. The car might also be rigged with a payload of explosives and be driven into a structure of the terrorist's choice.

(Something they're already willing to do. People have literally stolen passenger planes and flown them into skyscrapers. You're also assuming that the vehicles wouldn't have any kind of security at all...)

self driving cars take all the fun out of driving

also if a self driving car rear ends me who gets the blame?

also if a self driving car rear ends me who gets the blame?
The same people who already get the blame if a car malfunctions.
