I'm guessing that guns being illegal to carry does reduce the instances of small gun-related crimes... This is because nobody would bother trying to get hold of a gun as they are harder to obtain just to commit a small crime.

This is why I feel its safer for pedestrians if guns are illegal

guns being legal in the first place, here at least, was not for protecting ourselves from each other, but protecting ourselves from the government. it was so if the people felt the government is corrupt, they would take up arms and form militias. governments aren't going to use the small stuff, and they sure don't have restricted access.

so basically, the civilians would be more at risk than less
