Author Topic: what does it feel like when a new tooth comes in?  (Read 1626 times)

That could very well be your wisdoms penetrating your gums. If the sensation is on both sides similarly, that's a sure-fire sign.

I got my lower 2 wisdom's out at 16 or 17, and yes they dope you the forget up on morphine/gas/other stuff to do it usually.

I don't remember much but my dad had me take a video of myself on my phone afterwards (still doped a f) and it was hysterical.  The blank amused daze didn't wear off until the next morning.

After you get them out, eating will be a bitch. Usually after 5-9 days the wound is healed up pretty nicely, but you'll be eating lots of scrambled eggs, and mashed potatoes.

The soreness and gross blood gunk from afterwards sounds like a total pain in the butt to deal with, but I think it'll be totally worth it to be on the gas.

only one is coming in right now

only one is coming in right now
Yours aren't in very much then. They might not come in at an identical rate.
I know with mine my left upper tooth came in quicker than my right upper one.

but you'll be eating lots of scrambled eggs, and mashed potatoes.
yum

do they always have to be removed? why have we evolved with such bad wisdom teeth?
Well, it's not like this is the end of evolution. "Evolution" doesn't have a plan, or anything like that. It just happens. In this particular case, I guess that was never a big enough survival issue for it to disappear. Maybe it would have eventually, but with all the medicine we have now, I don't think it's likely to go away anytime soon.

I hope I don't have to deal with them. :(

Yeah evolution only helps with traits that improve survival/reproduction

also fun fact: i actually have an extra tooth, so I have 5 wisdom teeth
Not causing trouble surprisingly

I was born without wisdom teeth. :))

I was born without wisdom teeth. :))
I was born with a mouth full of teeth. I ate off my own umbilical cord. It was incredible. You should have been there.

At 15 your wisdom teeth might be coming in. Have fun with getting them removed.
all my wisdom teeth came in and i got none of them removed
im the best

My wisdom teeth are coming in right now and it hurts a bit. Dentist said I gotta get them removed soon

Spoilers, it most definitely is not.

That's all assuming it was routine. I had the lovely experience of having one of their roots penetrate my sinus cavity, so after removal/patching up the hole, I couldn't blow my nose for a week or two without rupturing the patch. Whole experience was a blast.

why have we evolved with such bad wisdom teeth?

wisdom teeth are from a time when our mouths were larger
our mouths got/are getting smaller and we're still transitioning, hence why some people have them and some are born without them

With wisdom teeth they'd be a tad bit painful to apply pressure to in my experience. I don't think mine ever breeched though.
