OP, I owned a "gaming laptop". It cost me $3000 (granted, it was Australian prices). I recently just made myself a gaming desktop with a GTX 980 and an i7 in a struggling economy with was only 2K, and yet VASTLY outperforms it. Furthermore, I sold laptops, and I know the way they price them and the specs ranges.
You're not going to find what you want for $300. Either save up for more and expect your laptop to last 3 years, or consider a desktop and just try have fun playing games with your friends (it's not about the games, it's about the people).
