Mary sues

Women being overloveualized in movies and games especially

Stereotypical characters like the white guy protagonist, lovey white girl love interest who is also a ninja, old guy who is an expert on the situation and either sacrifices himself or dies an overly dramatic death, smart little guy and big dumb guy, etc

Aliens that somehow are fluent in English

Invincible ninja character (almost always overloveualized white girl or stereotypical Asian guy)

Trained cops and Marines cant hit targets, inexperienced protagonist gets one-shot kills all the time

Medieval characters with somehow perfect hair and makeup

Michael Bay style explosion whenever a car gets shot

One bullet will bring a plane down

Every character being either in his Teens or early 20's

Those moments in films where "its not what it looks like" and nobody gives them an opportunity to explain.

When the characters explanation sucks balls

My brain confused this thread with the movie-related ones.

Anyways, here's the list:

  • Vampires
  • Mary sues (Exceptions are medieval or western times.)
  • Overuse of swearing
  • "It was all a dream!"
  • Real-life political references
  • As posted already, "The Chosen One."
  • Extremely obvious plots
  • More vampires.
  • Werewolves.
  • Inter-species relationships between humans and vampires.
  • Inter-species relationships between humans and werewolves.
  • A group of young adults from 12 to 18 being placed in an apocalyptic/dystopian setting, who usually ending up killing each-other or going on a quest to save the world. (It was fine the first two times, guys.)
  • Joke repetition.
  • Bad joke repetition.

  • Disgusting joke repetition.
  • Repetition of things that aren't even laughable or thought-provoking
  • Constant stupidity from anyone considered an obstacle to the protagonist.  (Think of it as 'Protagonist runs at a bad guy, the bad guy simply stares at him/her before being offed or incapacitated.')
  • Much, much more, but I'd have to go back though my bookshelves and re-live the terrible patterns that would appear before me.

Stereotypical characters like the white guy protagonist,

Aliens that somehow are fluent in English

I agree with like all the others, but a white guy being a protagonist isn't bad at all tbh, if we were just to remove white protags all together than other race protags would become over-saturated and we'd have an endless flip flop.

And there are many suitable reasons that Aliens are fluent in English, one is "suspension of dis-belief.

You say "No need to be hating on Time Lords."

But it's fine that white protagonists are over saturated?

How tons of enemies and good guys can be killed/injured easily, but somehow both the hero and the villain have magical suitability/bullet dodging capabilities. Obviously is null i they have a REASON for having fast healing, but in some casing, a whole group of people that the hero is apart of has similar abilities to said hero, yet they die all the same yet the hero cant.

minorities placed just to be there so you don't offense the tumblrites

When the main character is a total dumbforget and is always in the wrong, but the creators still want you to cheer for him/her because s/he's the protagonist.

For me:

The Superior Alien Race that looks like Humans
Earth is home to a vast number of species. Only one of them looks like Homo Sapiens.
Now, imagine a species that looks completely identical to Homo Sapiens has evolved on an alien planet.
Identical, no, but humanoid I can believe.
Here's why.
Humans have evolved to be the shape we are because it is the most efficient for what we do. We don't have tails because we had to run a lot, and they got in the way and slowed us down. We have hands and opposable thumbs so we can work with tools. The structure of our heads is such that our brain could develop. Our eyes face forward because we needed to be able to see for long distances ahead of us.
An alien species might have different circumstances, but generally if they've achieved a level of intelligence like or better than ours, they will have been a species that uses community hunting or gathering strategies to survive, is highly mobile, and can manipulate small objects. Without that last capability in particular, they'd never make it to space, or at least it would take them tens of thousands of years.

But then again, there are plenty of different ways that an animal can handle small objects, and we don't know that intelligence can't spring up in entirely different places.
I would be super surprised though if dolphins or elephants ever made it to space, even if humans never came around for some reason or other.

I'm just saying chances are greater that whatever it is, it's bipedal with hands and a somewhat humanlike head

Not roasted, because I just posted a non-white doctor
