Author Topic: Bones needs a new graphics card(s)  (Read 2551 times)

Graphics cards on Mac should be replacable (b4 u say anything, I'm running windows on it because I realized it was stuff after a while)

You sound set on your decision, why are you still asking?

I'm not at all. I'm actually closer to a 980. Don't assume lol

970 sli for bang for your buck

I can tell, it wasn't an assumption at all.

Ordered the 980. 970's vram is broken and I hate sli microstutter. Oh well.

Broken is a big overstatement, but ok.

hitting 3.5gb vram (not too hard at higher resolutions) drops fps substantially. Seems broken to me.

It should be noted that there's rumour DirectX 12 would have allowed for developers to make use of SLI'd card's VRAM separately, so two 970's would have given you 7GB of "usable" VRAM, but whatever Bones, do what feels right for ya. :P

AMD cards have in general given me nothing but trouble. They've done a lot of funny things, like requiring to be used in tandem with an integrated card, killing Civ V if it's in fullscreen, crashing Starbound (also maybe Java's fault, to be fair) and causing trouble with Blockland shaders.

Frankly, I don't recommend one.

Opposite for me, I have never had an NVidia that has worked properly. I have built multiple computers with AMD cards that have run flawlessly for years.

I can't say I've really had problems with either, except that Shadowplay keeps turning itself off. :c

Why did you refer to your self in third person in the topic? That's loving autistic as hell lmao

You should upgrade to Bones6
