To add to Juncoph's statement I'd like to say that at standard combat ranges of up to 600 or 700 yards, insufficient armor entry stopped being a problem, especially for the Sherman. The only tank I believe that it would still have a problem with might have been the Tigers.

The thing about tigers though is that they have 80mm of side armor. Both the T-34-76 and the M4A3E2(75) would have problems with it unless they got VERY close to the sides. Now if the Sherman happens to have gotten a 76mm in the field (this is a thing, enough digging will yield pictures of jumboes with 76mms).... well, just about 95 entry at 500 yards is easily enough to slice into the Tiger's side. This is with the APCBC ammo, though. With HVAP M93 it can penetrate the side of any tank in WW2, if I recall correctly.

Ok, Well we've got 3 players now including me so lets start out with our first Scenario, take in mind as well that scenarios aren't going to be in order of date or time.:

Scenario I, Germany's turn

During the Western allied invasion of Germany 4 Shermans were sent out to capture a town followed by Platoon of infantry. During the 34 mile trek to the town 2 Shermans were destroyed by Panzerfaust fire, all that remains of what was sent out are 2 shermans and a rag tag platoon. about 200 meters out a lone Panzer IV sights the shermans and begins to move.

Panzer IV commander, What will you do?

The commander inside the tank snaked his head out of the top of the tank for a moment, binoculars quickly zooming in on the twin shermans.

He slammed the lid shut and barked an order to the driver; slow pace (~10km an hour) and close in. He pulls a coin out of his pocket, flips it, and pockets it again. It landed heads, he ordered the gunner to fire at the sherman more-so on the left. Thanks to his experience with artillery, he figured to have the gunner aim up as to- hopefully- smash the round into the main cab. Of course, when you're at ~180 yards, you cant exactly do precision work.

I place a card face down and end my turn.

gunners weren't taught to aim at weakspots, they were taught to aim center mass
also jesus forget 20m an hour? don't think it's possible for someone to maintain a speed that low

also 20km/h is half the max speed of a panzer iv
you won't be firing while moving at that speed

Gunners were taught to do that. The man driving the tank told them to do other things.
And I'll admit I forgeted up the speed. I dunno stuff about tank-movings. Wanna give me a reasonable speed?

maybe 10 km/h
you'd be able to fire while moving at that speed
and i understand the tank commander tells him to do other things, just keep em within reason. in this case, a somewhat precise shot from 200 m away isn't that hard. for longer range shots, however, you're going to want to stick to center mass, it's the easiest thing to hit.

Alright, thank you for the advice mister japanese-name-for-godzilla. I'll edit the post.

no problem, sorry for coming across as a richard initially.
also might wanna change the m in your "10 m per hour" bit to km

Bump so that Juncoph the Dumkophf takes his turn.

Bump so that Juncoph the Dummkopf* takes his turn.
*generally when someone's name is based off of a word they know it well so i had to correct this kekekek

seeing as how i would have to be determining the shot taken at me i thought i was supposed to wait for thatrandomguy to say if it lands or not but ok

Suddenly, a huge banging noise wakes up both of the Shermans' crewmembers. A shell ricocheted off of the frontal armor of the Sherman, and a muzzle blast appears at 2 o'clock!

I tell the trailing Sherman's commander to follow my lead as I order my driver to head for the muzzle blast as fast as he can push the tank's engine. I've fought Panzers before; they can't penetrate a Jumbo's frontal armor. Unless they managed to cram an '88 into one...
