Man I was thinking someone should make this topic last night. Time for my stories. My Blockland time can be divided into three eras: v10, v20, and v21.
My first activities: I started playing Blockland in 2008 at the age of 12. My dad had found the game and downloaded the demo. I think he played it a bit and then let me use it too. After playing the demo for about two weeks, my brother and I bought a shared account for $20. I began by playing single player for hours on end. I didn't know add-ons even existed, but the game was seriously the most fun game I had ever played. My very first build was on that blank slate map (the totally white one), and I was just connecting road plates together and built a simple house. My favorite terrain map was the Kitchen. I remember standing on top of the light, building 20 vehicle spawns from which I would spawn jeeps and make them different colors, and then shooting them with a rocket launcher. I would shoot them off the light down to the floor until they were all off of the light, then shoot them again causing them to respawn.
My entire v10 story (late 2008-March 9, 2009): Most of my online interactions happened in my servers (under the name "Oliver Hagamy" after my favorite Lego minifigure's name). I hosted roleplays (town, family, school, etc) and they averaged 4-12 players. It was through hosting that I made my first friend, Kari. She enjoyed family RPs more than anything so I began hosting those more just so she would join. We would just chat for a long time until more players started joining. In one of the servers, she asked me if I could build her a house. I agreed and set to work. It took me about two days to build a large substandard house, but I got it done. I connected it to the usual ACM City build that we used. Soon, other people began asking me if I would build houses for them, so I started working on a subdivision. It was around this time that I discovered the newly released RTB from a player who had joined my server and saw its lack of add-ons. I downloaded hundreds upon hundreds of add-ons, with most being vehicles or weapons. I created the perfect add-on loadout and was very pleased. When I wasn't hosting, I would sometimes look for an online server to join. My dad was skeptical about me joining servers, but eventually consented. I wasn't much for the social interactions, but preferred servers with a decent amount of fun to keep me occupied. I preferred roleplays, notably CityRPs. I learned how to use the RP_Core system on a server that I played almost non-stop for a month, and met another really good friend named blockbuddy. I remember joining a server hosted by Ephialtes that was an event-based carnival freebuild. I didn't build anything, but my visits were repeated as I tried out everyone's creations. Not long afterwards, I got in a lot of trouble for something I did at church involving inappropriate talk about guns or something. My parents were worried when they found out, because the day before they discovered what I had said, my ex-pastor was gunned down and murdered during a sermon in front of 150 people. I was grounded from Blockland indefinitely. I tried to sneak some playtime in anyway, but when I opened the Blockland folder, I found that my dad had uninstalled the game and wiped all of my add-ons (I had made a list of them in a Word document though). I didn't even know where or how he had gotten the game, and was totally in the dark on how to get it back since I didn't know my authentication key.
The transition age & v20 (March 2009-June 2012 through December 2012): During this time, I didn't play Blockland at all. I asked my dad to reinstall it multiple times, but he never heeded. I eventually reinstalled Blockland myself and emailed Badspot on how to get my key back, but since the key was registered to my dad's email, I couldn't. In June 2012, during a day trip to Sikeston, MO, my dad finally gave in. He got the key from Badspot and I entered it in immediately when I got home. I adopted the name of "XR_7" after my PSN account. I reinstalled RTB only to find that many of the add-ons that I had before had been removed or failbinned, but I also got back many that brought back waves of nostalgia. I remember briefly playing online on several servers, notably at Heedicalking's Slopes TDM and Jorgur's Dogfight (I cry every time). It was during this time in my awkward teenage years that I took the role of a troll. I found out that there was a lot of aggressive behavior towards Christianity around Blockland, so I took it to heart to make people mad by giving myself Christian names and constantly whining about atheists in game. During this time, I discovered the forums. I had never used a forum before and didn't know how to use one correctly, so I unintentionally ended up spamming the Suggestions and Requests board in the exact same manner that "(minecraft)" is doing right now. I also carried over my hate of atheists. After making a complete fool of myself, I was permanently banned from the forums after barely a day. I was pissed off to an extent, because I thought I would miss out on a lot by not being a member of the forums. So what was the most logical thing to do? Yep, you guessed it. I trolled the RTB General Discussion. I got drama'd for impersonating Badspot (and boy did it work on some people) and further defiled what little reputation I had. I continued bothering people in servers (notably Pecon7's Boss Battles and Jorgur's) up until around December. During that time, I came across Electrk at a bounty hunter server. He taunted me for a few minutes, but eventually everyone at the server left (it was around 2am in my time zone) and it was just us. I remember we talked for a bit, and then took over the server for our own by locking ourselves in a special weapons room and not letting anyone else who joined kill us. After awhile, we jumped off of the map into a hot tub at the bottom of the map. We just sat in there chatting for a long time. It was just interesting to see that someone who I had seen and trolled on the forums could be a halfway decent person. Not long after that, my desktop computer's hard drive crashed and my dad accidentally drove a fence post through our Internet line.
Modern day - v21 (2013-present): It was six months before I returned to Blockland. It was a break that should've happened much earlier. By that time, v21 was released and I played under the same name but nobody seemed to remember my sprees from 2012, and I was perfectly okay with that. Since returning, only one person has ever brought up my old attitude. I became more involved in RTB and less involved in game due to internet data limitations (which I still have, and in a much worse scenario, today). I stilled played in game sometimes though. I don't really remember notable servers from this time because I never made favorites due to everyone recovering from the missing terrain or discontinuing their servers altogether. One server always seemed to stand out: Tezuni's Prison Escape. I was slapped in the face with nostalgia when I joined it, because the (at the time) outdated build was the exact same one that had been used years before then and I remembered playing it. The antics of the staff were hilarious and I found the game mode to be addicting, so I became a frequent visitor. After a while, I was noticed and one of the administrators, HunterG, made me a moderator (June 2013?). After being demoted and promoted several times by the admins who weren't used to seeing me, I managed to keep my title. My brother apparently got wind of my moderator status though, so he kept joining and using my powers to his own liking (still a shared account). When I picked up on this, I bought another key from Amazon, got my moderator status removed on my old account, and had it reinstated on the new account so my brother would stop messing with it. I registered that key as another forums account in October 2013 (a few days before my fourth sister was born) and slowly began to ease myself back in. I remember at the very second that my sister was born, I was playing at either Tezuni's Prison Escape or Aoki's CityRPG. Not much has happened since then. I'm an administrator at Tezuni's now, have problems getting online, and still have this forums account.
