The nearby jet engines and strafing runs are no doubt making enough of a racket to drown out its engine noise, and if they were to proceed at their current rate, they would end up walking out right in plain sight of it.

Jaakko fires into the buildings parallel to the wrecked column of vehicles, careful to make sure he is firing into where the Imperials probably are and where Gus and Yui can't be.

You can definitely see the effect of the cannonfire on the sidewalk and storefront, but there's no way of knowing if you hit anyone.

You are able to make it the rest of the way to the extraction point without incident.

Though no hostile forces get in the way of Gus and Yui's route to the extraction point, they arrive well before the evac chopper. FLIR shows a Defender wandering by in the vicinity, its crew apparently quite lost. It's not currently in any danger of spotting Gus or Yui, but it could be a very large wrench in the works if it sees the chopper coming in for a landing and goes to investigate.

Yui waits for the helicopter, nervous as hell and wondering whether or not she'll ever be able to fly again. She considers cracking a joke to lighten the mood, but can't really think of anything.

Gus whispers quietly as he sets her down behind a brick wall. To his immediate northeast lies a small, flat field designated as the landing zone.

"CSAR helo is still a ways out. We're just gonna have to hang tight here."

Shouldering the AKR and flicking the safety off, he remains crouched and observes the surroundings silently.
