You look at where "three-o-clock" would be relative to the convoy and you see a small, bipedal vehicle rise out of a sand dune and begin sprinting towards the convoy, MG fire from the trucks plinking off harmlessly. It is followed by two of its comrades, one of them shooting down an attack helicopter with a rocket.

Junkers having lived on Deltan soil in the past allows him to recognize the design as a walker the Huitzitlaotani use for scouting and forest-clearing in heavy jungle areas. It appears they have up-gunned and up-armored the scout model and given it longer legs to allow it to quickly sprint across open ground.

Their bouncing gait makes them a particularly hard target for such slow-firing weapons, and while a nearby explosion causes one to stumble, it doesn't take any real damage.

The walker gets knocked over on its "chin" and starts attempting to stand back up.

I dive on one and try to spray it with flak, turning off at the last moment that won't get me killed.

The flak does just about nothing.

The walkers close in and begin running circles around individual convoy vehicles while hosing them down with their pulse lasers. The second chopper fires on one of them with its autocannon and knocks out a weapon hardpoint, but is swiftly swatted out of the sky.
