That looks like stuff. I'd prefer a full scuba-type suit over that.

Good for you? I mean, you're judging technology by how it looks, which I mean, I guess is a thing, but shouldn't you judge it on functionality?

Also, if you read the article, the controllers are definitely prototypes, meaning the headset look could change as-well, I'm sure.

If I'd be judging about functionality, I'd want the headgear now. We have the technology. I read an article the other day on ilovinglovescience and I googled it, plenty of articles from trustworthy sites. A guy in the US was sitting on a chair, in a lab with a helmet reading his brainwaves and a second guy in India in a similar state but had a receptor helmet, interrupting his brain's charges, giving him the same thoughts that the american guy had.

Yeah that's bullstuff, but have fun with your pseudoscience.

"They look weird, bulbous and exactly like what they really are: early prototypes.", "At a glance, they're ugly—but event staff promised me that was going to change for the final version."

$222

Or maybe they'll make a complex mathematical equation to find out what price to put it at where, no matter what currency it's converted to, it never has a digit that's a 3.

Yes and then a way to fry their brains if they die ingame or decide to take off the helmet without finishing the game.
Minus that part, of course.

when will people realize that virtual reality is exactly the opposite of the future

i think it's the future for gaming but not necessarily the future future.

Why is it the opposite? No laws, motherforgeters! Show Newton who's boss!

Finally, virtual reality Civilization V.
I can stare that starfish Suleiman right in the eyes and say "Very well."
