i've realized that over my years going to this forum, the way people act here has become the norm for me. this place has desensitized me to the weirdest stuff and allowed me to be more comfortable in awkward situations

idk if this is a good or bad thing considering it effects my topics of conversation. what are your thoughts

yeah but like this forum was the first thing i was exposed to, so i dont really know anything else. it's why i keep coming here

there's not really anything else like it

it's like a small town: everyone knows each other, news spreads quickly, you gain and lose a reputation pretty easily

sure, it's extremely dysfunctional but it's still homely and comforting in a weird way


it helps sharpen your arguing skills, too

nobody here really knows me despite being here for.. what, 8 years, so i've never really made any true friends here, but to be honest this past year or so when i've been the most active i've ever been i've noticed i've started to become a lot more sociable in real life. i'm actually really liking it and ever since i came on here and started talking and arguing about pointless things with strangers i've become more accustomed to talking to random people irl, so i know that feel

ninjedit: plus, despite the fact that i never get too interested in things going on here, i'm always returning. this forum has such a nice charm to it that i just.. can't leave, but at the same time, i don't think i've ever invested this much time into any other game's forum.. or rather any forum but this one, actually.

it's been a few years, at least two, though i was around ingame even longer and playing the demo for a year or two before that.
but yeah, this forum is strange. I mean, I can leave for long periods of time but I get pulled back by something or other.
This forum hasn't noticeably improved my IRL life yet but that's a major issue for me, being totally dysfunctional in social settings, and at least I got some advice from helpful folks here, even if I struggle to apply it.
I miss Furling though. Also a handful of other users who were really cool.
