Author Topic: I bricked my dvd drive  (Read 1347 times)

About a year ago I spilled grape juice on my desk and it ruined my keyboard, apparently it also got into my computer. The drive doesn't open and it makes really bad cranking noises. I pulled it out and it had stains on the top of it and the side of the case. There's also stains inside of it and it smells terrible, there's also loose parts in there, at least from what I'm hearing.

I'll get pictures of it tomorrow, it's late and my phone's battery is dead.

sounds like its broken

Good news is that a DVD drive is super cheap.

well that's what grape juice usually does to electronics. in seriousness, i feel kind of sorry for you. i did the same to my dad's keyboard with soda which in addition to ruining the keyboard, a lot of the liquid from the spilling hit the computer and ultimately screwed it up. courtesy of my dad, hell rose after that :L

as Georges said, you can easily get a spare DVD drive, so this shouldn't be too much of an ache to fix.

i took my dvd drive out and didnt even notice that i didnt have one i used it so little

if youre a real man you can open it up, clean it, then fix it

It is highly unlikely your keyboard is gonna be ruined from a little spill. I spilled an apple slushie on my keyboard and that stuff got everywhere. I threw it in my closet and let it ferment for a few months before I got around to cleaning it, but it works fine.

Sounds like you installed WINE.

Master detective at work.

the first keyboard I owned, back in 2008, was covered in milk spills, dirt, crumbs and general stuff
I'm surprised it still works today

Low quality pictures of dvd drive go!

Also there's smudges in the inside

you can get one for like $10.

you can get one for like $10.
you can fix it for 10 dollars less...........

you can fix it for 10 dollars less...........

he probably can't fix it now though, and its not worth the time
