Are you kidding? Source 1 is an extremely efficient, optimized, and fast engine. Unreal, Unity, and pretty much everything else is horribly laggy on non-NASA computers, while Source works wonderfully even on potatoes.

Unreal is pretty well optimized in my experience actually.

But it still looks good (Gmod, Portal 2).

Unreal Tournament gets like 5 fps on minimum settings unless I turn down the resolution to half, and I'm running on a decent mid-range graphics card.

Gmod
is this some kind of sick joke

a decent mid-range graphics card from like five years ago, if you're getting 5fps

Steam Link, a Chromecast for Steam, is $49.99? Jesus.

if you use the right models, it can look pretty good
thing is, nobody uses them for actual gameplay because they suck to download and don't thematically fit with most maps and other addons

Why are you blaming the engine for being slow, instead of the developers.
All the engines run perfectly fine until you put something poorly optimized into it

I'll buy it.

that's not really how it works
the engine's gonna be the part that requires the most. it has to render everything, figure out how to light the scene, do the... physics, and everything like that
relative to all that, the gameplay doesn't take much to run

however, Unreal is a great engine, and it does everything well. so it's not that engine's fault tristan can't run Unreal Engine games

i guess ill have to make some money for an actual rig so i can play source 2 games. gonna wait until theres a requirement thing, though.

So Source 2 finally has an official announcement. Kinda wondering what's going to happen to Gmod once it's released...
... Watch it not change at all...

why on earth would it change?

well they aren't going to port it to source 2, because that would probably require more effort. but hey, idk.

Vulkan seems promising~
