Author Topic: NASA Dawn Spacecraft has entered orbit around Ceres  (Read 1662 times)

The Dawn Spacecraft has been approaching the dwarf planet Ceres for a couple of months now, after a near decade long mission launched in 2007. It has sent back the clearest pictures of the dwarf planet ever captured, and ideally will give us the best look yet at it.

Earth clearly hasn't been inspected, since it's definitely contaminated with salmonella.

One of many smaller achievements toward many more large ones. I can't wait till me get drones to Titan and see it's moons.

Why did it take 8 years to get to Ceres but Voyager 2 took 12 years to get all the way to Neptune?

Older technology maybe?

Launch windows, and I think Dawn uses Ion engines instead of monopropellant and liquid fuel

Add on top of that the fact that Dawn flew to Vesta before going to Ceres.
